Some Facts About The Environment

My friend Rebecca went to a water treatment plant today. Here are some things she learned today and in the past week with Save The Bay:

1. The carwash actually is better for the environment than washing your car by hand... the water there is treated rather than sent down storm drains.

2. In regards to painting... DON'T try to clean/rinse your rollers.... throwing them away and buying new ones outweighs the paint that cannot be treated down the drain.

3. The main ingredient in antibacterial soap is actually a pesticide and is killing fish.

Just some things to think about.

Good to know about the paint rollers. We have always reused our rollers. I assume the antibacterial agent is triclosan or other chelating agents, and the reference is not to alcohol (which is used as a base in hand sanitizers as well). I don't know about triclosan being documented as a pesticide, though. A good and thorough 30 seconds of hand washing with plain soap and water is the way to go!
