Memorial

 
Mt. Soledad is the highest point in San Diego and at/near the top there is a war memorial. Families can purchase a plaque of varying sizes for veterans (living or deceased). The interesting thing is that there's a huge cross on the top (up to the left of this picture) and I guess that there was a big chuch/state controversy a while back. The resolution was for someone to buy the land at the memorial so that it is technically private property. It does create an interesting visual, which I did not include here. It is a great view of the city and the beach, so it was well worth it.
